This week we worked on the advanced bowings that I had mentioned in last week’s challenge. That video can be found below:
I also want students to work on the D major exercises found on page 20, numbers 90-92.
Here are the exercises on violin:
And on viola:
And on cello:
Basses, I apologize profusely but I didn’t get yours recorded yet! I will do it tomorrow. I’ll get that video to you ASAP!
Please make sure that the students are practicing at least 20 minutes a day, at least 5 times a week. More would be great, but these should be considered a minimum. I expect a lot of my Intermediate Orchestra. Thanks so much!
If you are feeling pretty good about the notes on the D string, try playing the songs on page 15. Below are videos of me playing all of the songs on page 15 on each instrument. We will work on this on Monday!
I hope you have all been practicing over the break, but if not, review the songs on page 19 to re-familiarize yourself. If you can play both parts of “Fork and Spoon,” you should be ready! Below are videos of me playing Fork and Spoon on each instrument. See you next Monday!
Below you will find videos about our weekly challenge for our new beginners–the D ladder. We did learn this on Monday, but it will definitely need a lot of practice. I also included videos of what the D ladder is on each instrument so that students can review that. Also try to learn what the D ladder (D, E, F#, and G) look like in the staff for your instrument (found on page 14 of your book) Let me know if you have any questions!
Our Beginner Bootcamp went wonderfully yesterday! Check out this video of us playing our FIRST SONG. Already!
Below are some review videos, talking about what we learned, and showing how to hold the instruments, bows, and what the open strings are on each instrument. Check them out!
Watch the video below to learn how to rosin your bow. If you can get that done before our first rehearsal on Monday, we will save a lot of time. Let me know if you have any questions!
