Hi everyone! Look below to review what we did in class. This can be helpful if you had to miss rehearsal, or if you can’t remember what to practice at home.
Beginning Orchestra
In the Beginning Orchestra, we worked on the D string notes, found on pages 6 and 7—E, F# and G. We played the “Essential Elements Quiz” on page 7. Then we learned “Rolling Along” on page 8 and “Essential Elements Quiz—Lightly Row” on page 9. Students should be practicing all of the music on pages 8 and 9 this week, and should start feeling comfortable with the D string notes. Next week I hope to add the A string notes, so please practice and know your D string really well!
Intermediate Orchestra
In the Intermediate Orchestra, we chose between a couple of options for a 3rd piece and ultimately chose “Ninja” by Richard Meyer. We will work on this piece a lot next week, so please practice it this week. We then rehearsed all of Maiden’s Rescue and First Christmas March. Next week we will add more dynamics and details to those pieces. Then we learned the G string on page 26 of the String Explorer book, and you are supposed to practice the G major scale, arpeggios, and thirds this week.
Advanced Orchestra
In the Advanced Orchestra, we rehearsed all 3 of our pieces. Variant on an Old English Carol needs the most work, so we will be focusing on that next week. Please also continue to practice Sahara Crossing and Nightrider, and don’t forget to use the practice videos!
