Hi everyone! We had good rehearsals on Monday—look below if you want to know what we did and what you should practice.
Also, I just found out today that we can’t rehearse next Monday, 11/11 due to a scheduling conflict. So our next Orchestra Academy rehearsal will be 11/18.
Beginning Orchestra
In the Beginning Orchestra, we reviewed the 5 songs that we have been practicing and will play at our concert:
- Rolling Along (p. 8, #19)
- Lightly Row (p. 9, #22)
- A Mozart Melody (p. 15, #43)
- Jingle Bells (p. 14, #41)
- Old MacDonald Had a Farm (p. 14, #42)
I also passed out a new song called Royal Promenade. I have made practice videos for each instrument and one with all of the instruments together, and they can be found here: https://orchestraacademy.co//royal-promenade-practice-videos/
Intermediate Orchestra
In the Intermediate Orchestra, we began with the G major scale, arpeggios, and thirds, found on page 26. We then played New World Symphony, found on p. 27, #118.
We then worked a lot on Ninja, but we need a lot more people to practice this piece at home. I made practice videos for this song, which can be found here. Use the individual practice videos to help you learn your part, and once you know your part well enough you can use the video with all of the parts to practice.
Since we spent so much time on Ninja, we only got a small amount of time to play First Christmas March and Maiden’s Rescue. I’m hoping we can spend more time perfecting these at our next rehearsal.
Advanced Orchestra
Advanced Orchestra rehearsals are going really well. We worked a lot on Variant on an Old English Carol and really got the parts synched up well. We then played Sahara Crossing and Nightrider. Thanks for the practice you are doing at home!
