Hi everyone!

This week, I’m going to have written reviews instead of videos because my new house is getting remodeled and I couldn’t find a quiet place to record! Happy Practicing!

Beginning Orchestra

In the Beginning Orchestra, we worked on each of our concert songs, like usual. They are Rolling Along, Lightly Row, A Mozart Melody, Old MacDonald Had a Farm, and Jingle Bells. We also worked on Frere Jacques (p. 24 #88), which we are adding to our concert. Please try to practice these at home so that you are ready for the concert! We have a little under a month.

Intermediate Orchestra

In the Intermediate Orchestra, we started with First Finger Pachelbel. We worked specifically on making the moving parts louder so that we can hear them, and on staying together as a group. I think that we will do better at staying together if we all listen to the cello, bass, and viola parts. After that, we rehearsed Royal Promenade and brainstormed ways to make it more interesting. I want to work on making the dynamics that are written very dramatic. We ended with Subatomic, which some people are still getting used to. Try to practice the middle of this song, and if you need to write in the names of the notes, do it during the week! Our concert is in a little less than a month.

Advanced Orchestra

In the Advanced Orchestra, we started with Pirates with our Intermediate Orchestra friends. We rehearsed the whole thing and worked on keeping it together. We had our percussionist with us, which made things fun! Then we did Sahara Crossing (which was good as usual) and worked on Blinding Lights. Blinding Lights is a LOT easier with the percussion, and we will work on it more next week to fine-tune it. We then worked on Mythos for a little while, but we didn’t have as much time. I want you to try to memorize the first 2 measures after each tempo change so that we can work on you watching me through those. Try to do that this week.

Have a great week, everyone!
